As we collectively navigate historic uprising, global pandemic, and climate disaster, it is more important than ever to create a future without police. Equally important, however, is understanding what alternatives to police exist in our communities today. The following document, published by graduate students in the School of Human Ecology at UW-Madison, is an excellent compilation of police alternatives in the Madison area. We encourage you to share the document, or the link. If you’re not from Madison, this guide could be an excellent framework. Take some time to investigate police alternatives in your own community. What exists? What doesn’t? What can you do to fill in the gaps?
